Cheers to 60 years!

We had an unforgettable day celebrating 60 years of Templars Square being at the heart of Cowley and over a thousand of you joined the fun.

Shoppers enjoyed live performances from an Elton John tribute act who delighted guests with classic hits and a few renditions of Happy Birthday. Our wonderful mascot, Templeton the dragon, made special appearances throughout the day, giving out balloons and posing for photos.

Cowley’s proud history took centre stage with a display of classic cars built right here in the area, while local historian Maurice East led fascinating walking tours sharing stories of the centre’s past and Cowley’s motoring heritage.

Families enjoyed free face painting, sweet treats and the chance to win a £100 voucher with our giant globe adding extra excitement to the day.

Carla Scaroni, Centre Manager at Templars Square, said: “It’s been fantastic to celebrate the centre’s birthday with our local community. People of all ages enjoyed the music, entertainment and the opportunity to take a trip down memory lane through centre’s photo archives and classic car display.

“This anniversary was a celebration for everyone who shops, works and lives in the area – thank you to everyone who helped make it so special.”

We loved hearing your memories of the centre from first jobs to weekly shopping trips and family meetups. A selection of historic photographs are on display in the centre until the end of May, come down and take a look.

Thank you to everyone who came and celebrated with us – see the video below for highlights from the day!
