Cowley Classic Car Display
IT’S BACK! VROOM VROOM? Cowley Classic Car Display is returning with a stunning range of locally built classic cars, celebrating our city’s heritage in the automotive industry. 》Between SUNDAY 18th – SATURDAY 24th August, nine cars will make an appearance here at Templars Square Shopping Centre, all of which were assembled in some aspect at the Cowley plant. 》On Tuesday 20th August, Charlotte Gallant, Deputy Archivist and Mollie Horne, assistant Archivist from the British Motor Museum will be visiting for the day and holding two sessions where they will share as archivists some of what they think are the best Mini and Maxi items from the British Motor Museum’s Archive. The sessions last around 45 minutes, are free of charge, but must be pre-booked by contacting Tanya Field on tanyafield999@gmail.com or on 07929 868284. The sessions will be at 11.00am and 2.00pm. 》Also on Tuesday 20th, from midday we will be joined by Bron Burrell, one of the team who drove Puff in the 1970 London to Mexico World Cup Rally and now owns her. 》The exhibition is free to attend, members of public are invited to sit in the display cars and take photographs. Owners of the cars will also be on hand to answer any questions. Since opening our doors here at Templars Square Shopping Centre in 1965 we’ve welcomed thousands of Cowley plant workers through our doors. The automotive industry is an important part of our heritage and we are delighted to bring this to the forefront of the community.
