Colour is to return to Templars Square shopping centre with the display of 50 giant paintings following a joint community project between Templars Square and Ark T.
“The Positive Painting Project” featured a ‘live’ session in Templars Square shopping centre in February, followed by sessions at The Ark T Centre. These sessions were funded by Templars Square and led by Ark T Resident Artists Groovy Su and Cait Sweeney.
“The Positive Painting Project” has been an example of Community Art at it’s best! The free sessions were available to all, and the diversity of Cowley was truly represented. The youngest painter was 14 months old and the oldest were in their 70s. Groovey Su of Ark T says “I’m so excited about seeing all the beautiful paintings together in Templars Square for everyone to enjoy.”
Owen Acland Centre Manager at Templars Square adds “This has been a great opportunity to support Ark T and we look forward to seeing the paintings on display for the benefit of our community”.
There will be an exhibition launch event on 8th April at 11am in Templars Square shopping centre. Many of the artists will be there to see their paintings on public display for the first time and celebrate in their collective creativity.
